The records in this series are from 1917-1979, with the bulk dating from 1950-1966. Record types include certificates of incorporation and other legal records, annual reports, minutes, correspondence, financial records, nursing procedure manuals, catalogs, commencement bulletins and invitation, president's book, memo, survey report, stationery, news clippings, and newsletters. Most of the material is typewritten or printed, but the Alumnae Association minute book and financial cashbook are handwritten, as are parts of the president's books. Alumnae association minutes include date and place of meeting, and the name of the person presiding. Minutes were read, committee reports given, announcements made, and projects planned. The time of adjournment was recorded and the minutes signed by the recorder. Lack of members and money were perennial problems. Items of interest in the correspondence include the perception of the alumnae that nursing was not portrayed well by the public relations department of the hospital and reaction by the association to the closing of the School of Nursing, Also of interest is the report of the survey on retention of nursing students by the hospital after graduation. Records are in English and their condition is good. For arrangement and description purposes, an order was imposed upon the records by the processing archivist with alumnae association materials filed after other nursing school records.
